A Louisiana man has been arrested for holding a woman and her daughter against their will in a trailer.

When an 11-year-old girl went to East Feliciana Middle School on Nov. 2, she brought a handwritten note with her. The note stated that she was scared and being held against her will, CNN reported.

The girl gave the note to school officials, who then called police. East Feliciana Parish Sheriff Jeff Travis said the girl and her mother were being held at a trailer that belonged to a family friend “for at least a couple of weeks.” Read the full story here ▶

Adopting a child from foster care is a great way to help a child while growing your family. Children enter foster care through no fault of their own, because they have been abused, neglected, or abandoned.

Just more than half of children who go into foster care return to their birth families. For children who become available for adoption, many are adopted by a relative or their foster parents.

A human trafficking sting in Williston over the weekend resulted in one man’s arrest and provided aid to a female victim, authorities said.

Christopher James Watkins, 25, of Minot, is charged with promoting prostitution, a Class C felony, resulting from a Saturday undercover operation involving the Williston Police Department.

Court records filed Tuesday in Williams County say:

Law enforcement went to a room at the Missouri Flats Hotel in Williston after responding to an escort ad on Backpage.com.

The woman in the hotel room told law enforcement Watkins took her from Minot to Williston to work as a prostitute. Watkins also is accused of taking the money the woman earned from the sexual encounters.

Watkins told Northwest Judicial District Judge Paul Jacobson during a court hearing Tuesday in Williston that he’s been living in the area for about two years, working to support his children in California.

Jacobson set bond for Watkins at $10,000. His next court appearance is Dec. 3.

The FBI participated in the weekend sting as part of Operation Cross Country, a national initiative to dismantle human trafficking networks, said FBI spokesman Kyle Loven.

“There were operations throughout western North Dakota, primarily focused in that area,” Loven said.

The North Dakota operation led to the recovery of a victim Loven described as a young woman, but he declined to comment on her age or provide information about what type of assistance the woman was provided.

Nationwide, Operation Cross Country came to the aid of 149 sexually exploited children and resulted in the arrests of more than 150 pimps and other individuals, the FBI said.

Once this father saw his son’s killer in court, he couldn’t hold his anger. During the hearing of the murder trial of Lukace Kendle after he shot and killed Kijuan Byrd, Byrd’s father, Donald, wasn’t able to handle the disrespect Kendle was displaying.

After  killing Kijuan in cold blood for no reason, Kendle has the nerve to plead insanity at the Miami-Dade County Criminal Court, and that is just too much for Donald to handle.

According to the court documents, the 36-year-old defendant, Andrew, was sentenced to life in prison after he reportedly attempted to orchestrate a murder-for-hire plot.

Prosecutors said the 36-year-old defendant plotted to have his landlord murdered over an eviction proceeding. Andrew also threatened the would-be hitman with torture, attacked jail guards after he was arrested. According to the court documents, Andrew will not be eligible for parole.

Prosecutor Katherine said that Andrew should remain in prison for as long as he is a danger to the public. Andrew was sentenced on Wednesday, court records say. Read the full story here ▶

Two Nebraska children texted 911 from the backseat of their father’s car to report his drunk driving.

Ethan and Mackenzie Behrens, 12 and 14-years-old, said their father, Jason Behrens, 44, was drunk when they left on a family vacation to Colorado in his car, KUTV reports.

“We told him we don’t want to go anymore because you are drunk and I don’t want to die,” Mackenzie said. Read the full story here ▶

Per reports, this amazing photo, which shows a black man holding a white baby, was shared on social media. As many social media users began to realize what was really happening in the snapshot, they couldn’t believe their eyes.

“So a lot of people like this picture. So I wanted to take a minute to tell the story,” Facebook user Cody captioned a snapshot of his son sitting in the lap of a black man.
