Man Beats Neighbor’s Dog To Death With Hammer And Set It On Fire

Camden, the county seat of Benton County, Tennessee, sits on the de facto border of West and Middle Tennessee.

Benton County, which sits directly adjacent to the Tennessee River, is a major destination for duck hunting for Tennesseeans, Kentuckians, and people from even farther away.

One idea that is popular among hunters is that they should strive to kill animals as humanely as possible. something that Camden’s duck hunters share.

Although hunting is so popular in Camden, the aforementioned humane values obviously aren’t present in everybody who lives there.

Cody Shay Townsend, a resident of Camden, Tennessee, was arrested by the Benton County Sheriff Department late last week after being charged with counts of burglary, trespassing, and animal cruelty.

According to the Benton County Sheriff Department, Townsend shared with the officer who responded to onlookers’ calls that he was on a “mission from God … to kill all things evil.”

Whether Townsend suffers from a mental health condition that causes grandiose thoughts, paranoia, and psychosis, was under the influence of psychoactive substances, or both isn’t clear.

However, the Benton County Sheriff Department did share that some people who stay awake on stimulants, namely methamphetamine, for days at a time sometimes experience psychosis to the extent that Townsend was likely experiencing as a result of sleep deprivation mixing with the hallucinatory effects of amphetamine and methamphetamine binges.

Cody Townsend is currently being held by the Benton County Sheriff Department on a $25,000 bond.

He has been jailed by the county’s officials since his arrest last week.

According to eyewitness reports of Townsend’s behavior, the incident started after he ventured onto a neighbor’s yard where a stump was being burned.

Townsend then took the neighbor’s fuel can and thoroughly soaked the neighbor’s dog with gasoline.

Next, Townsend picked the dog up and threw it onto the neighbor’s burning stump.

Although the dog, named Sissy, survived the attacks from Townsend, its owners decided to put the dog down because it was in constant pain as a result of the first- and second-degree burns.

Sissy also suffered extensive cranial bruising and was cut deeply on the top of its head.

10-Year-Old Boy Makes Over $6000 Collecting Bottles and Cans, Decides To Buy Gifts For Sick Children

0

We love a good bittersweet story. And one 10-year-old has just earned himself the nickname “Sam the Bottle Man” for the most heartfelt, genuine reason.

Sam Rideout, of South Portland, Maine, has made it his hobby for the past three years to collect bottles, cans and cash to buy holiday gifts for sick kids at the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital in Portland, Maine.

“It makes me feel good, and I just think that they should have Christmas just like us, because it’s not really fair, because it’s not their fault that they have the diseases and stuff,” Sam said.

He started this tradition when he was just seven years old, and has made the most in donations this year than ever before.

This year, Sam was able to raise a whopping $6,300 from his bottles, cans and cash and buy a ton of toys for all the sick little ones. Can you believe that?

In his first year, Sam raised $900, and the second he raised $2,000, so this was certainly his most successful year yet.

Keep in mind bottle deposits range from just 5 to 15 cents, so you an do the math on how many bottles he was able to raise!

Sam got the idea to do this three years ago when he saw a Toys for Tots bin at Toys R Us, a program that allows children to receive gifts whose parents otherwise might not be able to afford to buy them.

Sam told his mom right then and there that he wanted to use his birthday money to buy toys for the Toys for Tots bin—but she had a better idea, and told him that maybe he could start his own toy drive. That was all he needed to get started. Good job, Mom!

Each year, Sam directs people to either his home to drop bottles off, or Alewives Brooks Farm in Cape Elizabeth, where Sam sometimes goes in the morning before school to help out his aunt. (Yes, he seriously does it all, and remember, he’s only 10!)

You can even donate electronically through his bank account, deemed “Sam the Bottle Man,” in case you can’t make it to Portland.

This year the drive hit home even more for Sam. Last year, he was hospitalized for four days with a rare disease called Kawasaki’s. He was already grateful for life before that, but he feels even more compelled to help out now that he knows what it’s like to be sick in the hospital.

“I’m going to do this for the rest of my life,” Sam said last year.

This year, Sam got to deliver the toys to the hospital in the most fun way—a police car!

To hear from Sam and see all the toys he got to deliver this year—plus how happy it truly makes him to give back—check out the heartwarming video below.

What do you think of Sam’s act of kindness to raise money for sick kids? Do you know any other 10-year-olds who act so selflessly?

How Many Girls Are In This Mind-Boggling Photo? People Are Getting The Answer Wrong

0

The internet has been obsessed with optical illusions lately. Case in point- the dress phenomenon that took the world by storm a few years ago.

Now there’s another photograph that’s confusing people around the world and making them second-guess themselves.

The photo, posted to Instagram by an artist from Switzerland by the name of Tiziana Vergari, shows several girls sitting on a bench with their backs against the wall.

Each girl is clad in a gray dress with their brown locks down in a casual style.

At first glance, it appears there are thirteen girls in the picture.

However, upon closer inspection you can tell that many of the girls look alike.

In fact, it looks like two girls repeated over and over again.

Vergari, who submitted the photograph as part of a weekend contest on Instagram called #Whpidentity, cleared up the confusion with a comment to a perplexed follower.

Responding to @erin.thehuman, Vergari replied, “One think it sure, that I only have two daughter.”

Although it looks like there are thirteen girls in the astounding photograph, there are actually one two.

Vergari had taken her daughters out for a shopping trip and snapped the picture as they were both seated on a bench surrounded by mirrors.

The mirrors created the odd visual effect that has so many wondering how many girls are actually in the photo.

Vergari’s photograph generated so much buzz on social media that she was nominated for a Shorty Award for Instagram Photo of the Year.

How she managed to capture such an incredible photograph shows how much talent this Swiss photographer possesses.

The astonishing image certainly fulfills the definition of an optical illusion as it continues to deceive the eyes of many into thinking there are more than just two girls in the picture.

Beloved McDonald’s Longtime Employee With Down’s Syndrome Has Passed Away

0

Down Syndrome is a type of intellectual disability that is caused by a malfunction in the human genome, specifically the 21st chromosome.

People who suffer from Down Syndrome usually aren’t able to live as independently as their counterparts of average mental capability are.

Freia David, who died earlier this week at the age of 55, was a longtime employee McDonald’s. As a matter of fact, Ms. David worked for McDonald’s for roughly 32 years.

Even more interestingly, Freia David only worked in one restaurant throughout her entire career with McDonald’s, which was located in Needham.

Ms. David had been retired from her long-held job at that Needham McDonald’s fast food restaurant for just about three years at the time of her death.

CBS Boston, a local news channel that generally covers local news in Boston, Massachusetts, has previously done a story on Ms. Freia, during which reporters shared that Freia David was also the most friendly employee there.

Further, she was generally more willing to talk than the remainder of her counterparts at the Needham McDonald’s.

The Boston Globe, a newspaper that is located in none other than Boston, Massachusetts, also published an obituary for Ms. Freia David, which, in part, recognized the fact that she was able to work just as well as anybody else without letting her Down Syndrome get in the way.

Freia David first got her job at the Needham McDonald’s 35 years ago, in 1984.

Ms. David was given the job through a program that places employees who are disabled intellectually at jobs that they will be able to manage.

The name of the program through which Ms. Freia David found employment was called the Charles River Center’s job placement program.

Ms. David actually lived at the Charles River Center in Needham in the three-odd years since she had retired from her job at McDonald’s.

She was found there at the time of her death.

The Charles River Center, believe it or not, worked with Freia David as one of its initial interactions with people who needed work but were intellectually disabled.

A service for Ms. Freia David is slated to be held on June 18, 2019, in Needham at the George F. Doherty & Son’s Funeral Home 30 minutes prior to noon.
