Have you ever looked at your child and wondered how they can be so amazing? Some children are just wise beyond their years.
Leland Shoemake was one of those children. Sadly, he died on September 25, 2015. He has contracted meningitis from an ameba (Balamuthia mandrillaris). Amber, Leland’s mom, believes he got the deadly infection playing outside.
After Leland had passed, his parents returned home and found the note he had left for them. The note was in the living room and Tim, Leland’s dad, found it. The moment he read the note, he cried. Here is the note – read it, and you will cry too.
Leland was known for leaving little notes for his parents, this one was clearly very different.
Amber and Tim held onto each other and cried after reading their son’s note. Balamuthia infection, according to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) is a rare and often fatal condition. The Balamuthia amebas live in the soil. Playing in dirt, gardening, or just breathing in the soil where the amebas live increases your chance of infection.
No one is immune – these amebas can infect anyone. Any open wound can be a way into the body. Some symptoms of infection include nausea, vomiting, headaches, difficulty walking and talking. The treatment is the use of several drugs. According to the CDC, the correct diagnosis is made just before the patient dies.
This makes it hard for doctors to find the right combination of drugs to treat it properly.

So, when Jodi and her partner Matt heard those words in a hospital, their hearts leapt into their mouths.

According to the court documents, the 32-year-old defendant, later identified as Chad, is set to face trial from July 8, 2024 to August 2, 2024 in the deaths of his three sons: 3-year-old Chase, 4-year-old Hunter and 7-year-old Clayton.
Prosecutors said the father asked his wife and three sons to join him for a nap. The dad then got out of bed and started shooting.
During an interview with investigators, the father reportedly said that ‘he hadn’t slept for days prior to the slayings because the thoughts of having to kill his sons was so heavy on him.’ Read the full story here ▶
A 10-year-old Brazilian girl complained of having a terrible stomachache in school.
She was rushed to the hospital in Belo Horizonte.
To everyone’s surprise (even the girl’s parents), she was pregnant.
The 10-year-old girl was seven months pregnant and in labor!
The girl delivered her baby without incident.
According to police chief Captain Castro, the girl’s mother claims that she didn’t notice her daughter was pregnant and blamed it on the girl’s small frame. Really?
Small frame or not, you would certainly have to recognize something was different with your daughter.
The girl later told her mother that it was her stepfather who had abused her. The stepfather was no longer living at the home.
Maybe the mother was in denial. The stepfather, 40, had also threatened to kill the girls’ mother and brother if she told anyone.
Two years earlier, the girl had become more introverted and started to have some troubles with her school work.
Her stepfather abused her for two years and then got her pregnant.
He was arrested and charged with illegal possession of firearms and rape of a child.
Young girls, like the one in this story, do not have a fully developed pelvis which puts them at risk for complications during childbirth.
For example, premature labor, prolonged labor, eclampsia, obstructed labor, anemia, or fistulas.
The little girl is lucky to have survived giving birth.
Reports at the time indicated that the girl and her baby were doing fine.

Prosecutors said the 27-year-old defendant, Blanc, confessed that he murdered his 20-year-old pregnant wife because she disrespected him and then shot her 68-year-old father from behind because he was not able to look into his eyes. Blanc was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for murdering his pregnant wife Martine and her father Roosevelt.
According to the court documents, the victim was six months pregnant when she died. The defendant also admitted that he knew his wife was having a baby. The 68-year-old victim was found dead and burned near the family home. Cops tried to get in touch with Martine, but could not find her. During an interview with investigators, the defendant reportedly said that while his mother-in-law was showering, he followed Roosevelt into Martine’s old bedroom.
After fatally shooting Roosevelt in the back, the defendant then exited, locked and discarded the keys to the bedroom. The defendant also told investigators that he left his wife’s body in her apartment for a week. After that, Blanc dragged Martine’s body in a trash container and left it by the dumpster in an alleyway of the apartment complex.
According to the court documents, obtained by L&C, Blanc attempted to dismember her body to make it easier to dispose of, but he failed to remove any body parts, documents stated. The 27-year-old defendant received three life terms for two counts of murder in the first degree and one count of murder in the first degree of an unborn child. He also received two 15 year-terms for two counts of abuse of a dead body.
According to the mother, Sarah, she and her husband Chris were very happy when they discovered that she was pregnant with their second child.
And just like all parents, they were overjoyed when their daughter came into the world with no complications. It wasn’t until they took her home that they realized something was wrong.
Their daughter Sloan was born fit and healthy, but when she was two months old her parents noticed that she was becoming a little chubby, especially around her belly. Read the full story here ▶
It seemed like a normal day for Charmaine when she took her dog, Georgie, for a walk. The 63-year-old and her pet often take different routes when out walking. On that particular day, their walk took them past a storm drain.
No sooner had they neared the drain, did Georgie begin to bark madly. When Charmaine took a closer look, she couldn’t believe her eyes.
According to Charmaine, Georgie is scared of cats, so when she heard cries coming from within the drain she thought perhaps a cat had gotten itself stuck. Read the full story here ▶
A new kidnapping scheme should have you on the lookout. Ashley Hardacre, 19, is sharing her story by posting a story on Facebook about her recent experience.
Ashley was leaving her job at a mall in Flint, Michigan the day after Valentine’s day. She saw a few cars that seemed to be moving around the lot, looking suspicious.
When Ashley got to her car, she noticed that a blue flannel shirt on her windshield. The shirt had been wrapped around her wiper blades. She knew with the two cars in the lot and the creepy feeling she had, she couldn’t stop and try to get the shirt off. Read the full story here ▶
