Jane Fonda, 85, admits she’s “ready” to die in statement

0

Yet while her advanced age and numerous health scares have left certain fans worried, the actress herself opened up about her feelings regarding death recently, insisting she is “not scared”.

Fonda has lived almost her entire life in the spotlight, and is now aiming to use her remaining time on Earth to impress upon the fact that it’s vital for celebrities to use their voices to stand up for important causes.

During an interview a few months back, the Grace and Frankie star said that she’s “not afraid of death” but knows she’ll be gone “sooner rather than later”.

In September of last year, Fonda announced that she had been diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Speaking candidly with Entertainment Tonight, she said: “I’m not going to be around for much longer.”

She continued: “When you get to be my age, you better be aware of the amount of time that is behind you, as opposed to in front of you. I mean, that’s just realistic.”

After announcing her cancer diagnosis, Fonda revealed that was would be undergoing chemotherapy treatment.

“So, my dear friends, I have something personal I want to share,” she wrote on Instagram at the time. “I’ve been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and have started chemo treatments.

“This is a very treatable cancer. 80% of people survive, so I feel very lucky.

“I’m also lucky because I have health insurance and access to the best doctors and treatments. I realise, and it’s painful, that I am privileged in this. Almost every family in America has had to deal with cancer at one time or another and far too many don’t have access to the quality health care I am receiving and this is not right.”

“I’m ready,” she told ET! “I’ve had a great life.

“Not that I want to go, but I’m aware that it’s going to be sooner rather than later.”

Fortunately, Fonda responded well to her chemotherapy. In a December post on her website, the actress wrote: “Last week I was told by my oncologist that my cancer is in remission and I can discontinue chemo. I am feeling so blessed, so fortunate.“

Blessed she may be, but the 85-year-old has also insisted that she has no fear of death.

The Academy Award-winner said she feels death is an adventure, and so she’s “not scared of dying”.

“I kind of, you know… I don’t want to go – I still have a lot to do,” Fonda said during an appearance on Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace.

“What I’m really scared of is getting to the end of life with a lot of regrets when there’s no time to do anything about it.”

Fonda said she has “very few regrets”, but said she “wishes” she could have been a different “kind of mother” to her children when they were younger.

“I have great, great children, talented, smart – and I I just didn’t know how to do it,” she said.

I for one will certainly miss the legendary Jane Fonda when she’s gone.

While picking up some groceries for jail inmates at a local Alabama supermarket, Cpl. Sebastian Goldman noticed something amiss about a teen boy’s right shoe. Initially, he dismissed it as a fashion statement, but he realized what it really was when he got a closer look.

The 18-year-veteran of the Hueytown police stopped by his local Food Giant, when he was approached by a 19-year-old store employee, wanting to help the cop take his groceries out to his patrol car.

Goldman obliged his request, and as the two were walking through the parking lot, the cop couldn’t help but notice the boy’s unusual “fashion statement” around the toe of his right shoe. When Goldman asked the young man about it, he got a response he definitely wasn’t expecting, then he took immediate action. Read the full story here ▶

Jodie Foster is not someone who minces her words and usually is known truthful about how she feels. So similarly, she made an honest admission about her feelings towards Gen-Z which are not always positive.

In an interview with The Guardian, she revealed that working with Gen-Z sometimes could check her patience. She said, “They’re really annoying, especially in the workplace. They’re like, ‘Nah, I’m not feeling it today, I’m gonna come in at 10:30 a.m.’” she said. Adding, “Or, like, in emails, I’ll tell them this is all grammatically incorrect, did you not check your spelling? And they’re like, ‘Why would I do that, isn’t that kind of limiting?’”

The Academy-Award-winning actress is clearly less than amused by the newest generation’s work ethic. But clearly, she does not want to lose their support or upset them because at the Golden Globes red carpet, she clarified her comments.

In a red carpet interview at the 81st Golden Globes on Sunday at The Beverly Hilton, the 61-year-old actress qualified her previous remarks. She wanted to let everyone especially Gen-Z know that she “loves” them and that her two sons are from the same generation as well.

“I adore them. They have all this freedom, which is wonderful but we didn’t have. We didn’t know we could say no, for example, and it’s just created a miraculous, confident, different, authentic people,” she said. She added, “But it also makes them, you know.”

The interviewee interjected and offered “very difficult sometimes,” to which she merely agreed and said an empathic “Yes.”

“But you need them in order to make your phone work,” she added as a funny afterthought. “What can I say.”

Her previous comment saying she is irritated with Gen-Z clearly did not go over well and must have been bothering her for her to clear it up in the interview. Everyone is entitled to their personal opinions!

Woman Eating At Applebee’s Bites Into Something Sharp, Quickly Realizes What Was In Food

An Illinois woman sued a local Applebee’s restaurant for reportedly serving her a meal that had glass in it.

The Madison Record reported that Linda Harbaugh was at the restaurant on August 30, 2014, when she injured her tongue and digestive tract after ingesting pieces of glass that were in her shrimp scampi.

The lawsuit that Harbaugh filed claimed that she was hit with significant medical expenses as a result of her injuries, and alleged that Applebee’s failed to observe the broken glass that was in the food. The lawsuit is seeking upwards of $50,000 in damages plus the costs of legal action.

In a similar incident, a North Carolina woman sued the Hickory Tavern restaurant chain for allegedly cheating her and hundreds of other workers out of minimum wage work.

The restaurant was accused in Vanessa Chavez’s suit of violating federal law regarding tipping employees. Fair labor rules allow restaurants to pay servers reduced rates on the condition that tips cover the difference between the rate and the federal minimum wage.

Chavez claimed in her lawsuit that she and other workers were required to spend time doing non-tipped work that should have paid the minimum wage. Instead, the restaurant paid the reduced rate of $2.13 for the additional work.

Chavez said she was told to clean tables that were assigned to other servers, meaning that she wouldn’t collect the tips that were associated with that table. The young woman, who had experience at other restaurants working as a server, said that the pay practices at Hickory Tavern were questionable from the start.

“It’s a very stressful job,” she said. “It is even more stressful when you are being cheated out of money.”
