According to the court documents, the 44-year-old woman, later identified as Peggy, was found guilty of home invasion and attempted first-degree murder after she reportedly went to her boyfriend’s other girlfriend and stabbed the woman. The defendant’s lawyer, David, reportedly said that his client was invited inside the home when Peggy went there in May 2022, attempting to make amends with the woman, who was not identified, who had just had a baby with her boyfriend.

David also said that Peggy was let inside the house before the women got into a tussle. After she left, the woman was taken to a hospital and treated for injuries. But, prosecutors claim that Peggy reportedly broke into the victim’s home and attacked the unidentified woman while she was sleeping in her bed. After the alleged incident, Peggy reportedly called a pastor, who was also working a a Major for the Sheriff’s Office.

The defendant’s attorney also added that his client voluntarily spoke with investigators because she believed she had only defended herself. During the conversation with her pastor, another deputy was also present in the room, court records say. Per reports, Peggy reported admitted to going to the house to try to catch her fiancé with the other woman.

David also said that the pastor must be a member of the cloth and the conversation has to be one where a person is seeking spiritual guidance. He also added that the conversation with the pastor must be in confidentiality. But, officials argued it wasn’t in confidentiality since another deputy was in the room. The judge ruled there was no expectation of privacy since she wasn’t alone with her pastor. Peggy will be sentenced on Feb. 27, 2024.
