The Patriot Way is all about winning and championships. Putting guys in the best position to succeed, drafting well, and talking to the media. Nobody is bigger than the team no matter the success. However, that seemed all to change once the Patriots started winning Super Bowls. At the beginning of the Patriots Dynasty, it was all Belichick. The way he drafted in the early 2000s, and landing Brady. Belichick put the best players on the field to win and they did three Super Bowls in four years. The second half was more Brady. Belichick however did draft Gronkowski, Chandler Jones, Dont’a Hightower, and others but in the end, Brady is what put them over the top.
Both Brady And Belichick Had A Part In The Patriot Way
Danny Amendola’s comments this week having to do with the Patriot Way being all Brady are correct. The Patriots don’t win those Super Bowls in 21014, 2016, and 2018 without the quarterback. Those playoff runs they had were all Brady. Both Belichick and Brady are responsible for the Patriot Way. Belichick the first half and Brady the second half. Brady is in the Super Bowl because of what he learned after two decades in New England. He was around the winning atmosphere and knew what it took. Now, he’s brought the Buccaneers to the Super Bowl.
The Patriots now look to rebuilding and finding the next quarterback. The question is can Belichick do it again? He really needs to draft a quarterback and get players around that can actually play. They need players that will buy-in. At the moment it seems players only see the success because of Brady and they forget the first half of the Dynasty. Brady wasn’t the Brady of today until the 2014 Super Bowl.
It was an incredible two decades of winning because of the coach and quarterback. At the end of today’s game, you need the quarterback to put you over the top. The Patriots don’t have one which is why they are in the position they are in and the Bucs are playing in the Super Bowl.
