A cowardly lion was compelled to disguise up a tree after a herd of buffalo it was searching determined to flip round and chase it away.

The lion clung on to a department after it bungled an try to stalk the herd in Masai Mara, Kenya.

It joined 4 lions who’re nicknamed the Black Rock Boys in following the herd of 500 buffalo, creeping nearer in a bid to catch their prey.

But after the buffalo noticed the lions approaching, they circled and chased, forcing one lion up a tree for hours.

Photographer Olav Thokle, 54, from Norway, captured the second the king of the jungle was compelled to scamper to security. 

He stated: ‘Suddenly the buffalo turned conscious of the lions’ presence. The strongest buffalo stormed in direction of the lions. Three of them ran away rapidly however the fourth lion was surrounded by the raging buffalo and could not get away.

‘He noticed a lonely tree on the good savannah and climbed to security from the large buffalo. He stayed within the tree for almost an hour, earlier than the buffalo herd left the world.’
