“We know that they’re in dire need of food and so we put together this program asking our restaurant tours to please provide food if they’re willing and able,” stated Dawn Ann Larios, government director of the San Antonio Restaurant Association.”

The Texas Restaurant Association web site lists hospitals from throughout the state, which have requested food help.

The program is designed to unite native eating places with well being care heroes.

“It’s about a community coming together. At the end of the day, it’s about working together, helping one another and showing just how much, we appreciate our frontline workers,” Ann Larios stated.

La Familia Cortez Restaurants in San Antonio was not spared by the freezing circumstances.

“We came in and found we had pipes busted, water everywhere,” stated Chief Operating Officer Pete Cortez.

Despite the chilly challenges, Cortez stated his group is able to go, cooking up and delivering lots of of sizzling meals for medical frontline workers.

“It’s been very difficult, but we see it is as a blessing. God always finds a way to provide and today, out of nowhere, this opportunity came to help serve one of the hospitals and if there’s more help needed, we’re prepared ramp up and help as much as we can,” Cortez stated.
