Playoff Game Six Preview | Bruins vs. Islanders
It’s do or die for the Boston Bruins tonight as they face elimination in a critical Game Six. The past 48 hours have been quite busy as officiating remarks led Bruins Coach Bruce Cassidy to be fined $25,000. Despite frustrations among the coaching staff, there’s no way around it: Boston just needs to win.
Earlier this afternoon Cassidy confirmed that Tuukka Rask will get the start in tonight’s game. Brandon Carlo and Kevan Miller did not make the trek to Long Island and are ruled day-to-day. With Curtis Lazar out Jake DeBrusk will enter the lineup, playing with Charlie Coyle and Karson Kuhlman.
“He’s ready to go (Rask), It’s that simple. (Rask) is our starter. He’s healthy and ready to go and let’s hope we’re better in front of him than we were in Game Five.”
Bruins Head Coach Bruce Cassidy
“We know that we’re fighting for our lives…we’re all excited for the challenge and the opportunity. We’re still here.”
Bruins Forward Brad Marchand
Boston dominated early on in Game Five, however rough penalty kills proved to be the downfall for the the team. The Islanders quickly took advantage on the power play after the Bruins tied the game at 2-2. New York now has the chance to clinch home ice advantage if they win tonight. Even though the Isles were out-shot 44-19, they were able to calm down a Bruins rally late in the third to win 5-4. Expect Semyon Varlamov in net tonight.
QUICK FINAL THOUGHTS
Overhauling officials is great, however the Bruins need to focus on shutting down the Islanders offensive. And much like a broken record-stay out of box and limit lazy giveaways. They simply need to outplay the Isles and minimize mistakes that lead to unwanted penalties.
