Her husband used to beat her frequently, so she took her children and ran away from home

They say that if life hands you lemons, make lemonade. We all know that this is easier said than done, yet nothing is truly impossible if we set our minds to something and put in a lot of effort to achieve it.

Cara Brookins ended up in a violent marriage. She left her husband, took her kids with her, and started over in a new house since she was a mother of five and understood she had to protect her kids from the toxic environment they were made to live in. How was it accomplished by her? by creating her own construction blueprints and viewing YouTube videos that demonstrated various building skills, such as installing plumbing, running a gas line, laying a foundation, and erecting walls. It sounds amazing, doesn’t it?

Now that she’s thinking about it, she acknowledges that it has been impossible the entire time.

Cara, a computer programmer analyst, came up with the idea to build her family’s new home from the ground up because she couldn’t afford to buy a house big enough for all of her children at the time she started building it in 2007.

Cara described the feeling as being that “if anyone were in our situation, they would do this.” “I know it sounds crazy now, but no one else saw it like this.”

She borrowed about $150,000 for construction and paid $20,000 for an acre of land.

Her children helped build their 3,500-square-foot home; the eldest was only two years old at the time and the youngest was seventeen.

Since there was no running water on the property, her 11-year-old daughter Jada had to use buckets to carry water from the neighbor’s pond. Her son Drew assisted her in creating the plans. After that, she combined it with concrete bags weighing eighty pounds to create the foundation mortar.

The children would visit the site and assist every day after school. This tenacious mother paid $25 per hour to a part-time firefighter with building experience to complete the most difficult tasks. He was “a step ahead of us in terms of knowledge,” she recalled.

The family finally moved into Inkwell Manor on March 31, 2009, which was named in honor of Cara’s aspiration to become a writer.

“We felt ashamed that the only option available to us was to construct our own shelter,” Cara remarked. “We weren’t particularly proud of it, but it ended up being the best thing I could have done for myself.”

“Anything is possible for you if I, a 110-pound computer programmer, can build a whole house,” she exclaimed.

She continued, stating, “Select one goal and stick to it. Choose a big project you’ve always wanted to do, start small, and take the others who also need to recover with you. That has a great deal of power.

This isn’t it one of the most amazing tales you’ve heard recently?

If this family’s tenacity inspires you as much as it does, please SHARE their amazing tale on Facebook with your loved ones!

Things Take Tragic Turn After Officer Takes 3-Year-Old In Patrol Car With Her

0

Two police officers have been placed on administrative leave after a 3-year-old girl was found dead in a patrol car in Hancock County, Mississippi.

Cheyenne Hyer had reportedly been left in the patrol car of officer Cassie Barker for approximately four hours, according to WLOX.

Barker was off duty at the time and visiting another officer, Clark Ladner.

Police say they are unclear on Ladner’s part in the incident.

“We don’t even know if he knew the child was in the car,” said Hancock County Chief Deputy Don Bass, the Jackson Clarion Ledger reported.

Police say the air conditioning was running in the vehicle when they found Cheyenne. She was taken to a local medical center where she was pronounced dead.

Ryan Hyer, Cheyenne’s father, told the Clarion Ledger he brought up Cheyenne until she was 2, when he and Barker split up.“I went from being there continuously to not being there at all,” Ryan said.He added he was in shock when he heard the news.

“What really kills me is that you see a child killed in a car wreck, or in a home invasion, or even left in a hot car,” he added. “And the last thing you ever expect is to have an officer come knock on your door and tell you your daughter has passed away.”

“There’s no logical reason to do that,” Bass added. “It’s not an accident. She left the child in the car. We hear and read about this, it seems like quite often recently. It seems more than ever that people are leaving their infants and small children in the car to do tasks and shopping.”

Investigators also said Barker was previously involved in an incident with the Department of Human Services to get her child back. However, details on this have not been made public.

“The autopsy was done this morning and we haven’t got the results yet,” Hancock County Sheriff Ricky Adam added, according to WLOX. “We are looking into some possible previous allegations. It is an active investigation. It hasn’t been determined which way we will go, but it doesn’t look good. We’ll see which way the evidence takes us.”

Girl Falls Deathly Ill After Eating Banana With Red Streaks Inside

Fruits are healthy for people of all ages and are vital to a balanced diet.

But if the piece of fruit involved is in a bad condition, it can affect someone’s health for the worst.

Lissa Merlin’s daughter Dionne, 8, was enjoying a banana from Morrisons supermarket at her home in the UK when she suddenly became ill.

Merlin was startled, knowing that Dionne had been completely fine prior to eating the fruit.

Merlin rushed to check on the bananas that they had, and when cut open, the bananas revealed dark red streaks down their centers.

She then took to Google to see what the streaks meant, and quickly discovered that they were riddled with the fungus Nigrospora.

Leaping into action, Merlin raced to get her daughter to a hospital.

Thankfully, this type of fungus doesn’t result in lasting harm, with most discomfort being psychosomatic, so Dionne made a full recovery and was discharged from the hospital.

Others have also reported purchasing fruit with this fungus from Morrisons and another supermarket called Lidl.

Upset and concerned, Merlin urged these stores to perform a more thorough check of their fruits.

Commenters on Merlin’s Facebook post reasoned that it was not possible to check every single piece of fruit in the grocery store.

They suggested that the best idea would be for buyers to be careful of the food that they eat instead.

Ryan Reynolds reveals his thoughts about wife’s friend, Taylor Swift, who is also the godmother of his and Blake Lively’s kids.

Ryan Reynolds has recalled a ‘sweet’ remark that Taylor Swift made about being godmother to his children with his wife Blake Lively.

Blake, 37, married Ryan, 48, in 2012 and they have since welcomed four children – daughters James, nine, Inez, eight, and Betty, five, and son Olin, one.

For years Blake has been a member of Taylor’s star-studded girl squad, amid such names as supermodel Gigi Hadid and actress Zoe Kravitz.

Taylor released a song called betty in 2020 in a tip of the hat to Blake and Ryan’s youngest daughter, and the lyric also included James and Inez’ names.

Now Ryan has shared his reaction to the touching moment when Taylor announced to the world that she was the children’s godmother.

The 34-year-old pop star broke the news in an Instagram post promoting Ryan’s latest blockbuster Deadpool & Wolverine, starring him and Hugh Jackman.

Remembering the social media comment, Ryan joked: ‘I need that one on my gravestone actually,’ in an interview with Deadline.

In Taylor’s original post, she name-checked Deadpool’s alter ego and wrote: ‘Shout out to Wade Wilson, aka my godkids’ sperm donor!’

Looking back on the viral moment, Ryan shared that Taylor is ‘godparent to my daughters,’ while not indicating whether she has the same role in Olin’s life.

‘But yeah, that was very sweet of – that was not just sweet, that was like a – you could probably quantify a box office based on Taylor just doing something like that.’

Deadpool & Wolverine did indeed prove to be a galloping success, crossing the billion-dollar mark to become the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time.

Shawn Levy, who directed three of Ryan’s recent movies including Deadpool & Wolverine, has revealed he is Olin’s godfather, via Variety.

Blake makes an appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine as a character called Ladypool, with Inez also landing a surprise cameo as Kidpool.

While the movie was in theaters, Ryan posted a sweet snap of him and Inez in their costumes on set, clearly locked in conversation.

In Taylor’s original post, she name-checked Deadpool’s alter ego and wrote: ‘Shout out to Wade Wilson, aka my godkids’ sperm donor!’

‘Only costar I argued with. Most people think Kidpool is the dirtiest. But she’s also pretty good at backtalk and never taking out the trash,’ he joked.

Although Ryan is known for his constant quips in interviews and on social media, he has a celebrity neighbor who is less than impressed with his sense of humor.

‘He’s not so funny in real life,’ said Martha Stewart at Bilt Rewards’ November Rent Free game show. ‘No, he’s not so funny. He’s very serious.’

Martha, who has a farm near Ryan and Blake’s home in upstate New York, added: ‘He’s a good actor. He can act funny, but he isn’t funny.’

Ryan reacted on X, formerly Twitter, with a joke: ‘I’d disagree with her. But I tried that once. The woman is unexpectedly spry. She really closed the gap after a mile or so.’

Sources have said Ryan, who has been public about his battle with anxiety, prefers being ‘quiet over being on all the time’ in his private life.
