Husband, father, P.E. instructor, health teacher. That is how Nasara Gargonnu describes himself. An inspiration to the group is how the County of San Diego’s Health Services Advisory Board describes him.
Gargonnnu was lately awarded the 2020 Health Services Advisory Board’s Community Inspiration Award. He’s a bodily schooling instructor at Morse High School, a preferred health teacher on the YMCA, a pacesetter for Black Men Run San Diego, and a really acquainted face at native runs warming up the crowds, it’s little doubt health is his life.
“It has always been a dream of mine to work with kids,” Gargonnu stated. “Teaching kids how to eat right, how to workout, how to exercise, how to keep yourself healthy.”
After joing the Navy in 1988, Gargonnu discovered himself in San Diego. The New York native says with out the navy he would not have come out right here in any respect.
After leaving the Navy, he discovered a love for health and needed to discover a method to merge the 2 collectively. At the top of the varsity day, Gargonnu leads the after-school program “Just Keep Livin” which finds other ways to reveal youngsters to new and various things.
Gargonnu desires individuals to get out and transfer to assist build their immune methods.
“I want people to get out there and move and be active and eat right and build up their immune system and be strong so we can battle this,” Gargonnu stated.
The HSAB Community Inspiration Award honors individuals and small group organizations that make highly effective contributions that enhance individuals’s well being and wellbeing.
