HCSO deputy has suspected firing on motel along East Freeway

HPD said the suspect, who was out of bond for three robbery charges, had allegedly escaped after his girlfriend was kidnapped and abducted on Sunday.

HOUSTON – According to the Houston Police Department, the pursuit of a suspected accused of several violent offenses, including the beating and kidnapping of his girlfriend with gunfire, ended Monday outside a motel along the Eastern Freeway.

HPD Asst. Major lunar hatchery said The suspect is wanted for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated kidnapping charges. His identity has not been released.

He is accused of kidnapping and beating his girlfriend on Sunday night. Fortunately, police said the woman was able to escape.

Hatcher said the Harris County Sheriff’s Office received a notification that the suspect was in the area and went to gather more intelligence. During the investigation, investigators observed the suspect entering a vehicle and driving.

HPD said it was likely to chase, exit and then return to the eastbound lane of the freeway with the suspect heading west on the east freeway. At some point, police said the man stopped on the freeway and fled on foot.

Investigators said an HCSO deputy continued to chase the suspect and followed him to the Red Roof Inn in the 2000 block of East Freeway.

The deputy allegedly found the suspect hiding behind a vehicle near the courtyard of the motel. Hatcher said the officer gave suspicious verbal orders, and the man responded that he was armed.

Then there was a shootout between the HSCO deputy and the suspect. HPD said that multiple shots were fired by both sides, but no one was killed.

Eventually, Hatcher stated that additional officers arrived at the motel and the suspect surrendered.

Police said some property was damaged, but no one was injured. Hatcher said he was taken to the hospital for high blood pressure.

Suspicious weapons, a handgun and a vehicle were recovered from the scene. Hatcher said the suspect is a member of the gang.

In addition, Hatcher said the man was out of bond for three previous robbery charges.

Both HPD and HCSO are investigating the scene.
