SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio fire investigators are attempting to find out what brought on a fire at a North Side apartment complex.
The fire broke out round 4 a.m. Tuesday in a single constructing of the Tuscany Apartments, situated within the 1200 block of Patricia.
“It was actually around the chimney, and when I got here, about a quarter of the roof was already on fire,” stated Battalion Chief Brooke Hildreth of the San Antonio Fire Department.
Realizing they already have been at a drawback, the crews that arrived first referred to as a second alarm, bringing much more assist to the scene, which included two platform vehicles that have been capable of pour water on the fire from above.
“As soon as they started throwing water it went down very quickly,” Hildreth stated.
The individuals who reside within the constructing had made a fast escape.
Firefighters helped many of them make their method to a clubhouse at the apartment complex to get out of the chilly and get help from the American Red Cross.
Hildreth stated 12 of the 16 flats within the constructing sustained injury, some of it intensive.
Fire investigators are trying into the cause of the fire.
Hildreth stated they’d some suspicions of the way it might have began.
“It was very close to the fireplace,” she stated. “I know a lot of people are trying to stay warm and having fires. But it’s under investigation.”
