A British tourist has reportedly been stabbed by a Spanish waiter after he raised a grievance about the steak his spouse was served.

The middle-aged holidaymaker was rushed to hospital after allegedly being knifed in the abdomen and leg during an argument at a restaurant on the Balearic island of Majorca.      

The incident occurred round 7pm yesterday at a restaurant, named domestically as Don Denis, in Can Picafort in the north east of the island. 

The waiter concerned in the dispute can be understood to have been injured after being stabbed by the tourist – although their wounds have been described as much less severe than these of the unnamed holidaymaker.

Emergency responders stabilised the tourist on the scene after he suffered a big lack of blood, in line with Majorcan newspaper Diario de Mallorca. 

He was subsequently taken to Son Espases Hospital in Palma. 

The unnamed waiter is alleged to have handled in one other hospital in the city of Muro, and police have launched an investigation. 

Jaime Soberats, supervisor of Don Denis, blamed the incident on a disagreement over the standard of the meat.

Speaking after yesterday night’s assault, Mr Soberats stated: ‘I noticed the meat earlier than it was taken to the desk and it seemed very acceptable to me.
