A Super Bowl Is Nearly A Must For Belichick In the Upcoming Years

Super Bowl 55 has just passed with the legend Tom Brady winning his 7th. But this time the former Patriot is in a Buccaneers jersey in the NFC. Now that Brady has shown he’s still at the top of his game at the age of 43, it’s time for Bill Belichick to do the same.

Super Bowl 55 Belongs To Brady

Brady is on Tampa now and the question remains on who to give more credit for the Patriots dynasty. And after Brady’s Super Bowl win over the best quarterback in the league Patrick Mahomes, he’s receiving high praise. As for Belichick and the Patriots, their season was a rough one, to say the least.

Guys such as Donte Hightower, Patrick Chung, Marc Cannon, and more opted out of the season due to COVID. As their decision was respected, it put New England in a tough spot as a football unit. Their 7-9 season made them miss the playoffs, something that’s unfamiliar to the Patriots franchise in recent history. With Cam Newton at starting quarterback, they’ve had more downsides than highlights over the year. Former Brady best friend Julian Edelman hurt for most of the season. The defense was stifled and unable to get pressure on opposing quarterbacks. Most of these things are not Belichick to blame. However, with the recent success of Brady, Belichick needs to start seeing success relatively soon.

Former retired Rob Gronkowski is now fully healthy and active. But old friend Tom Brady convinced him to play with him. Gronk ended up scoring 2 touchdowns in the Super Bowl and looking spectacular. Former Patriot for 1 game Antonio Brown was also picked up for Tampa Bay and was awarded his first championship. Now Gronkowski has no plan on retirinlg and AB is back in the spotlight of the NFL. Both of these occurrences would not have happened in New England if Brady stayed. Before Brady went there, the Buccaneers did not have a Super Bowl appearance in a dozen years.

Chips Fell In For Brady

On the flip side, not all of the success is solely on Brady. Just like much of his career, the chips seemed to fall into the right place for him. On offense, he had a ton of weapons. More weapons than any year he had in New England. The only arguable year being the 16-0 season in 2007. Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Rob Gronkowski, Leonard Fournette, and Antonio Brown made this team almost unstoppable. Once they began clicking late in the season they went on an 8-0 winning streak.

The Buccaneers defense was able to get pressure and guard high profile receivers. As opposed to the resources Bill Belichick was able to have this season due to conditions out of his control. But that doesn’t take away from the greatness of Tom Brady. For the debate to continue who mattered more, Belichick will need to win another Super Bowl before he retires.
